Bodies believed to be teen, stepfather

The Colville Police Department is investigating two bodies found on Bradbury Beach south of Kettle Falls Thursday. Police believe the bodies are those of 15-year-old Alora Smith and her stepfather, 32-year-old Jason O. Lykke. Smith’s mother, Jennifer Lykke, reported her husband and daughter missing Tuesday at 4:39 p.m. They were believed to have left their residence sometime between midnight and 6 a.m. in a red Pontiac Firebird and had not returned since. Their disappearance prompted searches in the area. On Thursday, investigators located a vehicle near the beach, where the bodies of a male and female were found. Autopsies will be performed to confirm the identities and determine the causes of death. The Spokane County and Stevens County sheriff’s offices are assisting in the investigation.
