Heavy traffic downtown near Convention Center

Spokane police are reporting that traffic in the downtown area near the Convention Center is heavy this afternoon as people come and go from a Bloomsday trade show there.

“Motorists traveling south on Browne near Spokane Falls Blvd. will experience significant traffic delays due to the large crowds,” said Officer Jennifer DeRuwe in a press release.

Earlier this afternoon, traffic on the eastbound exit from Interstate 90 was backed up, but the slowdown has since cleared up as of 2 p.m.

Traffic could back up again as the evening rush gets going, she said.

Police are asking drivers to be careful because of the number of pedestrians crossing streets.

The annual Bloomsday run is on Sunday.
