Another woman grabbed on Centennial Trail

Another woman reported being grabbed by a man on a bicycle Tuesday along the Centennial Trail in northeast Spokane. The alleged attack is the fourth incident in the last week in which women reported a man on a bicycle grabbed their bottoms as he rode past. On Tuesday a 22-year-old woman told the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office she was jogging on the trail near the 1100 block of East Mission Avenue about 2:10 p.m. when a man on a bicycle rode past and grabbed her bottom. The suspect is described as white, 25 to 35 years old, with a thin build and short hair. He wore high-top tennis shoes and denim shorts and was riding a silver bicycle. The incident is similar to three reported attacks along the trail in recent weeks, Sgt. Dave Reagan said. Last week woman jogging on the trail said a man passing by on a dark mountain bike grabbed her bottom as he rode past at about 7:30 a.m. He asked her if she “liked it,” and she ran, according to a news release. At about 5 p.m. the same day, the same woman was walking to Minnehaha Park and was grabbed by the bicyclist again, she reported. Following that report, Crime Check got a call from another woman who said a man on a bike grabbed her bottom as she was walking in the area of Stone and Upriver Drive July 26. A third woman told a authorities she was walking her dog on the Centennial Trail July 25 when she had a similar experience with a man on a black mountain bike. All the attacks occurred in daylight when potential victims might be less cautious about bicyclists or other trail users approaching, Reagan said in a news release. The Sheriff’s Office encourages trail users in that area to walk, bike or run in pairs, and not to wear headphones so they can hear when someone is approaching. Witnesses should report suspicious activity or incidents to Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
