Motorcyclist dies in collision with deer

A motorcyclist died 4:51 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 95 in Naples, Idaho, after hitting a deer.

George Kirk, 64, of Moyie Springs, Idaho, was declared dead at the scene, according to an Idaho State Patrol news release.

Another motorist, Wayne Wilkerson, 46, of Naples, was southbound on Highway 95 in a Dodge pickup when he struck the deer with the left side of his bumper, the news release said. The deer continued into oncoming traffic, where Kirk was northbound on a BMW motorcycle. Kirk also struck the deer and went into a ditch on the east side of the road.

The roadway was blocked for about three hours. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the accident.
