Valley drug raids land several in jail

Spokane Valley police executed two search warrants Wednesday morning that landed several people in jail. Over the last month, members of the Investigative Task Force conducted several controlled buys of marijuana from Jeffrey S. Dawson, 22, said police spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan. They searched his house at 13200 E. 31st Court, where they discovered two ounces of marijuana, $615 in U.S. currency and a pistol. Dawson was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and booked into Spokane County Jail. Police also searched the home of Benjamin Crocker-Beck, 21, who has also been the subject of an investigation. The Spokane Valley Police Investigative Task Force and Property Crimes Unit executed a search at 10101 E. Main Ave., where numerous individuals were found inside smoking Oxycodone with Crocker-Beck’s 1-month-old child present, Reagan said. The odor of Oxycodone smoke was so prevalent inside the residence that investigators had to open the doors and windows in order to vent the residence before proceeding with the search, Reagan said. A loaded 12-gauge shotgun, about $240 in U.S. currency and 290 30-mg Oxycodone pills with a street value of $8,600 were seized. Crocker-Beck was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. Child Protective Services took custody of the infant. The infant’s grandfather, Timothy A. Nelson, 46, was present and admitted to smoking Oxycodone, Reagan said. He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Samantha Cumpton, 25, a transient who is 10 weeks pregnant, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance – Oxycodone and Suboxone. Thomas D. Plante, 27, was arrested for a Department of Corrections warrant and possession of a controlled substance. All were booked into Spokane County Jail.
