Blaze nears containment

Associated Press

WALLULA, Wash. – Fire crews say a wildfire is much smaller than they thought, but they are still working to contain the blaze in southwestern Walla Walla County near Wallula.

Fire spokesman Tom Reilly says the fire has burned nearly 7 square miles. Crews had estimated the fire at more than twice that size on Tuesday morning.

The fire is about 70 percent contained. Reilly says crews hope to have it fully contained by Thursday. No structures have been threatened and no injuries have been reported.
