Low air pressure drops temperatures today

A low pressure system moving along the Canadian border today is bringing a few clouds and cooler temperatures to the Inland Northwest. The weather system will bring a chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms along the northern tier of counties today and as far south as Spokane tonight. National Weather Service forecasters said the southern boundary for any showers will be U.S. Highway 2 running west from Spokane. Highs today should reach the lower 80s. A high of 81 is forecast for downtown Spokane. The low also will draw drier air northward across the Columbia Basin, increasing fire danger today. Spokane will see south winds to about 10 mph. Temperature stay mild on Thursday with highs near 81 before rebounding o the middle 80s on Friday and then lower 90s on Saturday and Sunday. Higher air pressure is forecast to build back into the region through Sunday. Another drop in temperatures is likely by Monday when highs go to about 83. Lows will be in the 50s throughout the period. At 7 a.m., it was 54 at Spokane International Airport, 60 at Felts Field, 57 in Coeur d’Alene, 49 in Deer Park and 47 in Pullman.
