Regional transportation agency names director

The Spokane Regional Transportation Council announced Wednesday the appointment of a new executive director.

Kevin Wallace, the former transit planning project manager for the Maricopa Association of Governments in Phoenix, was chosen for the job.

He will head the agency charged with coordinating transportation planning among the various local government entities in the Spokane metropolitan area.

Wallace becomes the executive director in an upgrade of the duties of the agency’s top official.

Previously, Glenn Miles had served as transportation manager but left the agency last spring rather than compete for the new executive director position, which is intended to enhance focus on transportation’s part in land use.

Miles earned $107,000 a year. Wallace’s salary was set at $105,000.
