Colfax man in critical condition, charged with DUI

A Colfax man was airlifted to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center after driving off an embankment last night. Richard W. Olson, 73, was listed in critical condition Saturday evening. Washington State Patrol responded to the crash about 10:07 p.m., according to a WSP news release. Olson was westbound on Highway 272 in Whitman County when he failed to negotiate a curve and went over an embankment, the news release said. He has been charged with driving under the influence, the news release said. Olson was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
