Teen dies in Osburn crash
A Wallace girl died this morning after driving off Interstate 90 in Osburn.
Marisa M. Aleman, 17, of Wallace, was eastbound on I-90 in a Toyota pickup truck when she left her lane of travel and drove off the right shoulder, according to the Idaho State Police, which responded to the call about 7:24 a.m.
The vehicle collided with a light pole and guardrail and overturned, partially ejecting Aleman from the vehicle.
Aleman was not wearing a seatbelt, according to ISP.

Not wearing a seat belt is somehow North Idaho standard. From all I can see there is next to no enforcement efforts in Shoshone county. The sheriff “hates working traffic” or helping the ISP. Alexander doesn’t want to stir up the natives.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of this young lady. I only hope her classmates and friends see the importance of seat belts, they save lives. Although we don’t know the cause, an accident like this could be the result of a momentary distraction.
