Education Notes: NC, Shadle will greet new principals in fall

As students in the Spokane Public Schools district head back to school in the next couple of weeks, many will begin the new school year with a new principal or assistant principal.

Among the changes are new principals at North Central and Shadle Park high schools. Chris Lynch, formerly the principal at Shaw Middle School, will lead NC. Eric Sylling, an assistant principal last year in the Sunnyside School District, is the new Shadle Park principal.

Rogers High School opens Sept. 1. All other Spokane district schools open Sept. 6. Other principals, assistant principals and other new administrative changes for the 2011-’12 school year include:

Roed Freeland, NC assistant principal. Freeland was the assistant principal at Shaw.

Sharon Robinson, Shadle Park assistant principal. Robinson was the director of staff development.

Marty Robinette, Rogers assistant principal. Robinette was the assistant principal at NC.

Ivan Corley, Rogers assistant principal. Corley was the assistant principal at Shadle.

Pete Hall, Shaw Middle School principal. Hall was the principal at Sheridan Elementary.

Andre Wicks, Shaw assistant principal. Wicks was the principal assistant at Longfellow and Arlington elementaries.

Julia Lockwood, Browne Elementary principal. She was the principal at Longfellow.

Brian Ormsby, Indian Trail Elementary principal. Ormsby was the principal assistant at Regal.

Meghan Anderson, Longfellow principal. Anderson was the principal assistant at Stevens.

Deanna Dashiell, Sheridan principal. Dashiell was the principal assistant at Logan.

Paul Gannon, Woodridge principal. Gannon was the principal at Indian Trail.

Tennille Jeffries-Simmons will be interim executive director of human resources. She was director of HR and equity services. The position of assistant superintendent, human resources is vacant.

Steven Gering, director of assessment and research. He was the principal at NC.

Laurie Moyer, coordinator in health services. Moyer was a certified nurse.

Car Show and Shine set for Mead area

Members of the Mead community are invited to enjoy a day of fun and classic cars at the Car Show and Shine Sept. 10, organized by staff of the Mead School District.

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mt. Spokane High School, residents can eat, visit with friends and family and see cars, owned and worked on by people in their community. Car lovers who want to share their hobby will have an opportunity to bring their cars to the show. Registration for participants begins at 7 a.m.
