Liberty Lake’s Christensen wins Battle of the Border golf tournament

Joel Christensen of Liberty Lake won the 16-18 year-old division in the 2nd annual Battle of the Border Junior Golf tournament at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course last Wednesday.

Christensen fired a 68 to beat Cooper Wright of Moscow and Tanner Martin of Richland, who both shot 74.

In the girls 16-18 division, Amy Hasenoehrl of Lewiston won with a 72. Katie Greear of Moscow was second (75) and Katie Stephens of Richland was third (88).

In the girls 13-15 division, Lydia Kim of Spokane won with a 72. Allison Duffin of Coeur d’Alene was second (92).

Max Toenjes of Sandpoint won the boys 12-and-under division with an 82. Jack Reeves of Sandpoint was second (86) and Jack Johnson of Liberty Lake was third (96).

About 70 golfers ages 10-18 from Washington and Idaho competed.
