North Idaho women end Casper’s perfect season

Korina Baker scored a game-high 21 points Thursday night as North Idaho handed Casper (Wyo.) its first setback during a 69-63 nonconference women’s basketball game in Coeur d’Alene.

Baker shot 8 of 14 from the field, including 3 of 5 on 3-pointers.

Julia Salmio added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Cardinals (5-1).

Bailey Holland and Taylor Diehl of the Thunderbirds (7-1) combined for six 3-pointers and 29 points.

Volleyball

Paula Ferreira and Vesna Trivunovic had 11 kills apiece as fifth-ranked Columbia (Mo.) College (38-3) defeated Lewis-Clark State 3-1 to complete pool play at the NAIA national tournament at Sioux City, Iowa.

Kelli Tikker (Lakeside-Nine Mile Falls) and Nicole Graybeal (North Central) combined for 22 kills for the eighth-ranked Warriors (23-5).

Both teams advance to the 12-team single-elimination bracket. LCSC will meet sixth-ranked Azusa Pacific (Calif.) this morning.
