Treated A spokesman for Muhammad Ali says the former heavyweight champion is “well, happy and carrying on with his daily routine” after being treated for dehydration last month. Spokesman Craig Bankey said in a statement released Friday that Ali was treated Nov. 19, five days after the funeral of Joe Frazier. Bankey says Ali is home in Scottsdale, Ariz. Jeanie Kahnke, a spokeswoman for the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, says she spoke with Ali’s wife, Lonnie, by phone Friday morning and that “he was right next to her asking for breakfast and that he was doing good.” Ali turns 70 next month.

Retiring The Seattle Sounders FC announced the retirements of backup goalkeeper Terry Boss and reserve defender Taylor Graham. Boss had previously posted on Twitter his intention to retire because of complications from concussions. Graham signed with Seattle in 2009. He played in one MLS game and nine other matches across other competitions in his time with Seattle.

Hospitalized WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko was taken to a Duesseldorf hospital because of abdominal pains, his promoter, Bernd Boente, said. Boente told German news agency dapd that Klitschko is displaying symptoms of renal colic, a pain commonly caused by kidney stones. Boente said Klitschko’s bout against French challenger Jean-Marc Mormeck on Dec. 10 is not in danger.

Returning St. Louis Blues forward David Perron, out almost 13 months with a concussion, is set to return to the lineup today. Perron will have missed 97 games since being injured on a high check from the Sharks’ Joe Thornton on Nov. 4, 2010. Perron will return for a home game against the Chicago Blackhawks. Perron is one of the team’s best stickhandlers and skaters.

Extended Vanderbilt rewarded football coach James Franklin with a contract extension after his first season with the Commodores. Franklin led the Commodores to become bowl-eligible for just the fifth time in school history.

Hired A person familiar with the decision says Florida Atlantic offered Nebraska defensive coordinator Carl Pelini its head football coaching position and expects to introduce him on Monday. The person spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the contract has not been signed and details were not expected to be “totally done” until the weekend. The 46-year-old Pelini would replace Howard Schnellenberger, who is retiring after the Owls finish their season today against Louisiana-Monroe. Pelini is the brother of Nebraska coach Bo Pelini.
