In brief: Tigers leave no doubt atop BCS

SEC: Tyrann Mathieu returned a punt 62 yards for a touchdown and set up two other scores with a fumble recovery and another dazzling return, leading No. 1 LSU to a 42-10 rout of No. 12 Georgia in Saturday’s conference title game in Atlanta.

LSU will be first in the BCS rankings when they come out today. This rout by the Tigers fortifies No. 2 Alabama’s chances of holding on to the its spot.

The Tigers beat the Tide 9-6 in overtime a month ago. Alabama is the only team to stay within 13 points of LSU in 2011.

Cowboys make case with rout

Big 12: Joseph Randle ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns and No. 3 Oklahoma State throttled No. 13 Oklahoma 44-10 in Stillwater, Okla., to win the conference title and keep its BCS title game hopes alive

Badgers win, earn Rose Bowl berth

Big Ten: Montee Ball scored four times, Russell Wilson threw three TD passes and Wisconsin won the conference title and a trip to the Rose Bowl with a 42-39 victory over Michigan State in Indianapolis

Houston’s BCS dreams dashed

C-USA: Star QB Case Keenum and No. 7 Houston were pounded 49-28 by Southern Miss. in the conference championship game, a loss that will cost the Cougars a BCS spot.
