City crews respond to sewage backup
Crews responded to the area of Crestline Street and Decatur Avenue today after sewage began backing up into people’s homes.
A sewage pipe either broke or became blocked, according to Marlene Feist, a spokeswoman with the City of Spokane, causing the backups.
Street department crews rerouted the sewage around the pipe’s problem area and will finish repairs Wednesday, Feist said. Homes in the immediate vicinity were affected, but she said the sewage leak isn’t affecting traffic flow in the area.
A claims adjustor is on the scene talking to homeowners, but anyone who was affected and did not talk to the adjustor can call the City of Spokane Street Department at 625-7900.

Krem2 is reporting that the raw sewage and sewage water is ankle to mid-calf deep in at least ten homes…

That’s some pretty crappy news.

These things will continue to be a source of amusement to those unaffected…but with the deterioration of ancient infrastructure across America, expect such problems to eventually impact your lives too.

Not me…. I put a back flow value in.

Brian…I’m hoping you inspect the damn thing….they have a marked tendency to fail.
Spokane_Citizen on December 06 at 8:14 p.m.
And of course…once the downstream side of the check valve is backed up…well, at least you’ll be wading in your own sewage.

So now that I spent all the money to meet code and put it in, I suppose if it fails I’m on the hook instead of you guys.

Just kidding….. I got as high as I could because I know from experience that stuff rolls down hill.

@Brian….you must have learned by now that when liability is involved it’s always your fault.

Well raise the water rates! So silly. Or have Obama take over the insurance industry and make them pay you. Make em! It’s an election coming up. He’ll tell you he’ll make things right!…until he’s elected…or those companies are broke.

No doubt about it Lewis….no matter how high a hill you live on, you’ll still be ‘bottom of the barrel’.
