Spokane man arrested for Stevens County murder

A 30-year-old Spokane man has been arrested for the homicide of a Stevens County woman. Robert C. Wirtz is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery for the death of 62-year-old Narleen Campton, who was found dead in her home in Northport near the international border on Nov. 26. A neighbor called police about 2:40 p.m. and reported finding Campton dead in her home after not hearing from her for a few days, authorities say. Wirtz was arrested on Thursday, and detectives seized a vehicle in Spokane County that belongs to him, according to the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives believe other people were involved in the murder and are continuing their investigation. Wirtz appeared in Stevens County Superior Court in Colville today at 11 a.m. He’s being held at the Stevens County Jail on $750,000 bond. His next court appearance is Dec. 20.
