Coeur d’Alene girls cruise past Shadle Park

A hot start coupled with stifling defense did the trick for Coeur d’Alene on Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings jumped ahead early and held Shadle Park at bay the rest of the way in a 64-48 nonleague win at Coeur d’Alene.

Caelyn Orlandi and Erin Legel scored 15 points apiece for the Vikings (6-2), who led by 19 at the half after limiting the Highlanders to just one second-quarter field goal.

Paige Reidt tallied a team-high 17 points for Shadle Park, which fell to 2-2.

Central Valley 63, Chiawana 43: Brooke Gallaway scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Bears (3-0) past host Chiawana at Pasco. Sydney Emory added 17 points and made five 3-pointers, including three in the first quarter. Mercedes Sparks, Chiawana’s leading scorer, was held to two points.

Sandpoint 27, Pasco 17: Sandpoint (5-4) beat Pasco for third place at the Pendleton (Ore.) tournament. Hailey Olin and Maggie Kirscher scored eight points apiece for Sandpoint.

Lewiston 67, Pullman 52: Tisha Phillips made 9 of 16 shots and finished with 22 points to lead the Bengals (6-0) past the visiting Greyhounds (0-3). Anna Guo had 12 points and Dakota Wickard added nine points and nine rebounds for Pullman.

Toppenish 42, West Valley 36: Toppenish regrouped after a slow start and beat the visiting Eagles (0-2). Jenae Martin led West Valley with 12 points.

Lakeside (WA) 44, St. George’s 30: Tayler Flemming had 13 points, six rebounds and four steals as the Eagles (4-1) topped the Dragons (0-3) at Nine Mile Falls. Jenna Widman added 10 points and six rebounds for Lakeside.

Riverside 42, Medical Lake 30: Courtney Davis had 13 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and five assists as the Rams (3-3) pulled away and beat the visiting Cardinals. Makenzie Biesecker had a team-high nine points for Medical Lake (1-4).

Freeman 47, Cheney 40: Katie Vold had 14 points and Sierra McGarity added 12 as the Scotties (3-0) beat the visiting Blackhawks (2-3). McGarity scored eight of her 12 points in the first quarter. Destinee Lake had 11 points for Cheney.

Northwest Christian 46, Chewelah 6: The Crusaders (4-1) dominated every aspect in a win over the host Cougars (1-4). Chewelah was held scoreless in the first and third quarters. Chanel Knight had 13 points and Hannah Dietzen had 10 points and eight rebounds for Northwest Christian.

Valley Christian 45, Coeur d’Alene Charter 37: Lindy Riggan had 20 points and six rebounds and the Panthers (3-2) topped visiting Coeur d’Alene Charter (2-6). Lexi Turkenburg had 22 points and eight rebounds for CdA Charter.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 46, Kittitas 25: Madeline Isaak scored 16 points and Kodi Noggles added 12 as the Warriors (1-0) beat host Kittitas. Brynna Stevens pulled down nine rebounds for Almira/Coulee-Hartline.

Inland Empire League 4A

Moscow 51, Lakeland 46: The visiting Bears (4-6, 2-0) took advantage of the sloppy Hawks (4-4, 0-1) in a narrow win in Rathdrum. Taylor Anderson had 17 points and four steals for Moscow, which forced Lakeland into 25 turnovers. Cieana Close had 13 points and Darby Murray added 12 points and seven steals for the Hawks.

Bi-County 2B

Reardan 70, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 29: Kelsey Moos had 23 points and the Indians (3-0, 1-0) crushed the host Broncos (2-2, 0-2). Lind-Ritzville/Sprague committed 29 turnovers – 21 coming in the first half.

Panorama League

Wellpinit 55, Curlew 39: Freshman Kyra Antone scored seven of her 16 points in the decisive second quarter as the Redskins (1-2, 1-1) ran past the visiting Cougars (2-3, 0-2). Antone also grabbed 10 rebounds and Sami Jo Parr added nine points and nine rebounds for Wellpinit. Curlew was led by the 18 points of Natalie Wilson.

Columbia 63, Cusick 36: Mackenzie Parrow had 20 points and eight rebounds as the host Lions (4-0, 2-0) routed the Panthers (2-2, 1-1) in Hunters. Krista Colvin added 10 points and nine assists for Columbia. Andrea Heinen tossed in a game-high 21 points for Cusick.

Selkirk 64, Inchelium 21: Courtney Holter scored 29 points and the Rangers (5-1, 2-0) routed the host Hornets (2-2, 0-2). Katie Couch added 14 points for Selkirk. The Rangers led by 21 at halftime.

Southeast 1B League

St. John-Endicott 69, Touchet 24: Emily Jones had 12 points and eight boards as the Eagles (1-2, 1-1) routed the visiting Indians (1-2, 0-2). Gretchen Van Lith had 12 points and Rachel Gfeller added 11 for St. John-Endicott. Kristen Warner led Touchet with a game-high 15 points.

Colton 89, LaCrosse-Washtucna 7: Payton Meyer scored 28 points as the host Wildcats (3-0, 2-0) routed the Tigercats (0-3, 0-2). Colton led 40-3 after the first quarter.

Tekoa-Oakesdale 46, Garfield-Palouse 27: Courtenay Perry scored 11 points as the Nighthawks (4-1, 2-0) gained control in the second quarter and routed the host Vikings (2-1, 1-1). Mattie Jo Johnson and Alex Overton each added eight points for Tekoa-Oakesdale.
