Here’s The Dirt: South Hill Cottages rented

Fourteen of the 24 planned South Hill Spokane Cottages have been rented. Work on the remaining 10 will continue through mid-2012, said owner and developer Konstantin “Kosta” Vasilenko.

The one- and two-bedroom rental units are being built on two acres between Southeast Boulevard and the 3400 block of Cook Street on the South Hill.

The two-story cottages are for low- and moderate-income residents. Rents will depend on unit features and renter income, said Vasilenko, who runs SCH Construction, the project contractor.

Applicants can contact Tatyana Vasilenko, project manager, at (509) 768-5760.

Bridal shop grows

Marcella’s Bridal in downtown Spokane is expanding, adding 1,500 square feet of space at 304 W. Second Ave. The shop will have 7,500 square feet of retail space and be able to double its gown inventory.

Remodeling of the wedding gown showroom will be completed by the end of December.

Marcella Davis has been designing and making wedding dresses for more than 25 years.

Wine bar opens

Spokane residents Nita and Ron Martinez have opened Mezzo Pazzo Wine Bar at Regal Place, 2718 E. 57th, Suite 105, in Spokane. The name means “half crazy” in Italian. The couple is celebrating the opening with a series of tastings and special events.

The couple is leasing 1,280 square feet at the Regal-57th strip west of Albertson’s. They’re taking over an office last used by a veterinary clinic. That clinic has relocated to 2915 E. Palouse Hwy.

It’s open Tuesday through Saturday. The menu features wines from around the world. Food options include salads and small-plate offerings.
