Snow foreseen for tonight

Up to an inch of snow is possible tonight through early Thursday to add to the slick conditions encountered from a dusting on Tuesday evening. The snow could bring an end to a lengthy stretch of calm weather that has brought an extended air stagnation advisory to Eastern Washington and North Idaho. The advisory is expected to end at noon on Thursday. Today’s high should reach 30 degrees under cloudy skies. The low tonight will drop into the lower 20s. Winds will be calm. Higher air pressure along the West Coast is weakening, allowing some storm energy to cross over the Inland Northwest. Dry weather from the high dates back to just after Thanksgiving. Snow tonight will fall mainly in Northeast Washington and North Idaho, along the northern tier of Washington counties and across the Palouse. Patchy fog and clouds will return for Friday through Saturday with a chance of snow flurries on Sunday. Temperatures are going to stay about the same with highs near 30 and lows in the lower 20s. At 7 a.m., it was overcast and 23 at Spokane International Airport. Air quality in Spokane was in the good range this morning. A stage 1 burning ban, which has held down smoke pollution, was continuing this morning. Only certified stoves and inserts may be used under the partial ban.
