CdA’s Chalich repeats as 5A player of the year

For a second straight year, Coeur d’Alene senior quarterback Chad Chalich has been named the All-Idaho 5A player of the year by The Idaho Statesman newspaper in Boise.

Chalich, who led CdA to a second straight state championship this fall, passed for 3,641 yards and 42 touchdowns with just two interceptions as the Vikings finished 12-0.

Chalich has given the University of Idaho an oral commitment. He is joined on the first team by senior wide receiver Deon Watson, also a second-team pick at defensive line.

Other second-team Vikings are Carlos Martinez (RB), Bubba Duran (WR), Jeremiah Hazard and Matt Howard (OL), Alec Hamilton (DL), Jake Cheesman and Joe Roletto (LB), and Reece Mahaffy (DB).

Also on the 5A second team are Tyson Johnson (RB) and C.J. Miller (OL) of Post Falls and Lake City’s Danny Brum (DL).

Timberlake senior Allen Foote is a 3A two-way selection at offensive and defensive line and joined by teammate Christian Heth, a first-team linebacker and second-team running back. Kellogg’s Ryne Stull (P) made the second team. Wallace seniors Lewey Wilburn (OL, DL) and Casey McKinnon (LB) made the 1A team.
