CCS still perfect
Community Colleges of Spokane’s men’s basketball team beat Whatcom (5-2) 81-71 Friday afternoon at the Centralia (Wash.) Crossover tournament and has won 10 straight games to open the season.
Preston Wynne led the way with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Four other Sasquatch (10-0) players reached double digits in points.
CCS plays Mount Hood (6-4) today in the semis.
Women’s basketball
Although Bellevue won big, Community Colleges of Spokane was awarded the win at the Skagit Valley Crossover tournament in Mount Vernon, Wash., after it was discovered Bellevue played with two ineligible players.

CCS (4-5) advances to play Lane (6-2) in the semifinals today at 5 p.m. Lane advanced by beating Tacoma in the first round.
Football
The Spokane Shock signed defensive end Brandon Sharpe. Sharpe, who ended his career at Texas Tech in 2009, was most recently on the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad after stints with the New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys.
Junior hockey
The Spokane Braves’ (13-17-1-0) offense clicked in an 8-5 win over Grand Forks (1-32-0-0) in a KIJHL game at Grand Forks, B.C.
