Schulz, Indians beat NWC

Lauren Schulz’s dominating first half was enough for Reardan to beat Bi-County League foe Northwest Christian on Friday night.

Schulz scored 17 of her game-high 23 points in the second quarter and the Indians (5-0, 3-0) ran past the Crusaders 68-49 at Northwest Christian. Schulz connected on 8 of 11 shots and scored all of her points in the first half.

Hannah Dietzen led Northwest Christian (5-2, 3-1) with 14 points and eight rebounds.

The game was an early-season battle for first place in the league standings.

St. George’s 54, Liberty 20: Alex Wert had 22 points and eight rebounds and Brenna Russell blocked 10 shots as the Dragons (1-3, 1-0) routed the visiting Lancers (0-6, 0-4). St. George’s led 32-5 at halftime. Liberty was led by Kate Nelson’s eight points.

Springdale 46, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 40: Taylor Smith scored a game-high 23 points and the Chargers (2-3, 2-1) made their free throws down the stretch in a win over the visiting Broncos (2-4, 0-4). Spring Hamilton chipped in 11 points for Springdale, which made 11 of 13 from the line in the fourth quarter.

Colfax 54, Kettle Falls 16: Hannah Harazin had 13 points and 13 rebounds as Colfax (2-1, 2-0) routed visiting Kettle Falls (1-5, 1-3). Amelie Bruya scored 11 points and Misty Skelton had seven steals for Colfax.

Nonleague

Hermiston 49, Lewiston 47: Andrea Waters scored 14 points as Hermiston (Ore.) beat the Bengals (7-1). The loss was the first of the season for top-ranked Lewiston, the defending 5A State champions. Tisha Phillips led the Bengals with 17 points.

Clarkston 47, Lake City 30: Everything changed in the second half for the Bantams (6-1) in a win over the visiting Timberwolves (4-4). Clarkston trailed 24-15 at the half but outscored Lake City 32-6 in the second half. Jamie Weisner led the Bantams with 15 points and eight rebounds. Hailey Jackson had 12 points for Lake City.

Bonners Ferry 40, Sandpoint 33: The Badgers (4-3) cranked up the intensity in the fourth quarter, outscoring Sandpoint 14-5 to beat the host Bulldogs (6-5). Jenna Gust scored 13 points to lead the Badgers. Hailey Olin tallied a team-high 17 points for the Bulldogs.

Colville 39, Medical Lake 26: The Indians (4-2) gave a stellar defensive effort and cruised past the host Cardinals (1-7). Ashley Knight had a team-high 12 points for Colville. Makenzie Biesecker scored 13 for Medical Lake.

Priest River 65, Clark Fork 31: Liz Halcro had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Spartans (5-3) past the Wampus Cats (5-2) at the Priest River Christmas Tournament. Brocklynn Thornton tallied a team-high 10 points for Clark Fork. Priest River will play Newport in the championship game today.

Newport 59, Post Falls JV 32: Miranda Frederick had 17 points and five assists as the Grizzlies (6-0) pulled away in the third quarter and beat the Post Falls JV at the Priest River tournament. Taylor Lewis added 15 points and six steals for Newport.

Lake Roosevelt 47, Omak 31: Roweena Antone scored 10 points as the Raiders topped the Pioneers at the Raider Holiday Classic at Lake Roosevelt High School in Coulee Dam. The Raiders will play Bridgeport in the title game today at 4 p.m.

Bridgeport 32, Wellpinit 30: Anita Valazquez hit a shot at the buzzer to give the Mustangs a win over the Redskins (1-4) at the Raider Holiday Classic. Dani Flett scored seven of her team-high nine points in the third quarter for Wellpinit.

Republic 36, Wilbur-Creston 25: The Tigers (6-1) forced the Wildcats (1-2) into 33 turnovers and used a 13-0 second-half run to beat host Wilbur-Creston. Gabby Jessen had 14 points and six steals and Juliauna Largent added 10 points and 10 boards for Republic.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 53, Okanogan 52: Kodi Noggles scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Warriors (4-0) slid past the visiting Bulldogs. Madeline Isaak added 13 points for Almira/Coulee-Hartline.

Cusick 64, Odessa-Harrington 39: Haley Adams led four players in double figures with 17 points and the Panthers (5-2) routed the host Titans (0-5). Andrea Heinen scored 13 points, Courtney Montgomery 12 and Lauren Nelson 10 for Cusick. Jessie Whitaker led Odessa-Harrington with 12 points.

Panorama League

Selkirk 59, Curlew 36: Katie Couch scored 20 points and Annie Couch chipped in 17 as the Rangers (6-2, 3-1) kept the host Cougars winless in league play. Lindsey Gibson tallied a team-high 11 points for Curlew (2-5, 0-3).

Columbia 60, Northport 24: Krista Colvin scored 21 points and Lindsay Loe added 10 as the Lions (6-0, 4-0) dominated the first half and eased to the win over the visiting Mustangs (0-8, 0-4).

Southeast 1B League

St. John-Endicott 50, Garfield-Palouse 47: Gretchen Van Lith scored 16 points and the Eagles (3-2, 2-1) escaped with a win over the visiting Vikings (3-2. 1-2). Kaycie Adair and Taylor Redman combined for 40 of Garfield-Palouse’s 47 points. Adair scored 24 and Redman had 16.

Rosalia 58, Tekoa-Oakesdale 54: Kristin Paulson made all seven of her free-throws in the second half and finished with 17 points to lead the Spartans (5-0, 3-0) past the visiting Nighthawks (4-2, 2-1). Cassandra Mendoza had 10 points for Tekoa-Oakesdale.

Colton 72, Touchet 8: The visiting Wildcats (5-0, 3-0) rolled past the Indians (2-3, 0-3) in the first half and cruised to the easy win. Haley Moser scored 15 points for Colton.

Pomeroy 43, LaCrosse-Washtucna 25: Mackenzie Monahan scored 17 points and Savannah Ruark added 12 as the Pirates (2-3, 1-2) beat the host Tigercats (1-4, 0-3). Logan Harter led LaCrosse-Washtucna with nine points.
