Traded The Cincinnati Reds acquired right- handed starter Mat Latos from the San Diego Padres on Saturday for a package of four players, including infielder Yonder Alonso and right-handed starter Edinson Volquez. In addition to Alonso, the Reds gave up top prospect and former first-round pick Yasmani Grandal (catcher). The Reds also gave up right-handed reliever Brad Boxberger.

Agreed Former N.L. MVP shortstop Jimmy Rollins agreed to a 3-year, $33 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, according to three sources close to the team. The deal includes a vesting option for a fourth year. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the agreement is pending a physical.

• The Los Angeles Times says Darryl Sutter agreed to coach the NHL’s Kings and will take over the team on Tuesday. The newspaper reported Sutter signed a contract a few days ago but needed to wrap up family matters and receive immigration clearance. The Kings fired Terry Murray on Monday.

Fired Head coach Jacques Martin was fired by the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens, a team recently undone by sloppy play and in last place in its division. Assistant Randy Cunneyworth was appointed interim head coach for the rest of the season. Larry Carriere, the assistant general manager, was made an assistant coach.

Hired The Austrian soccer federation says Andreas Herzog will become assistant to U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann. No details about Herzog’s contract with the U.S. soccer federation were revealed. The men were teammates at German club Bayern Munich when it won the UEFA Cup in 1996.

Acquired The Ottawa Senators acquired forward Kyle Turris from the Phoenix Coyotes for defenseman David Rundblad and a second- round NHL draft pick. The trade ends a rocky relationship between the 22-year-old Turris and the team. Turris was involved in a contract dispute and missed games before signing a $2.6-million, two-year deal on Nov. 22.

Signed The Minnesota Vikings signed center John Sullivan to a five-year extension. Financial details were not immediately made available. Sullivan was a sixth-round NFL draft choice in 2008 and took over as the team’s starting center in 2009.
