Vandals lose wild game in overtime
DAYTON, Ohio - Julius Mays scored 28 points, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer in overtime, sealing Wright State’s 80-78 win over Idaho on Tuesday night.
Mays’ big shot marked the last of four lead changes in the final 21 seconds of overtime, and came just a moment after Dazmond Starke’s layup put Idaho up 78-77 with 4 seconds remaining. Mays scored six of the Raiders’ 11 points in OT.
The Raiders (5-8) outscored the Vandals 11-9 in the extra frame.
Wright State outscored Idaho 37-36 in the second half, but couldn’t close the Vandals out thanks to Landon Tatum’s own 3-pointer at the buzzer that sent the contest into overtime.
Idaho led 33-32 at halftime.
Reggie Arceneaux added 19 points for Wright State.
Kyle Barone had a double-double to lead Idaho (7-5), scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 boards.
