Vandals fall by two at Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Brennan Cougill had 19 points and a career-high 19 rebounds, helping Green Bay to a 63-61 victory over Idaho on Thursday.

Cougill was 6 of 10 from the field. His 19 boards were two shy of the school record of 21, set by Nate Barnes in November 1982. Steve Baker added 13 points and Kam Cerroni had 12 for the Phoenix (6-6), who improved to 6-0 on their home court.

Djim Bandoumel led the Vandals (7-6) with 16 points. Kyle Barone and Stephen Madison had 13 apiece, and Barone added 12 rebounds and four blocked shots. Idaho dominated inside, outscoring Green Bay 36-18 in the paint.

Idaho was coming off an 80-78 loss Tuesday to Wright State, and this one was just as close at the end. Green Bay’s last field goal came with 1:44 left, but the Phoenix managed to hold on for the win.
