God’s present to humanity arrives in form of savior

At Christmastime, we celebrate that life’s biggest mysteries have been solved.

Is there a God? What’s he like? How does he feel about us? Can we know him?

God answers those questions, personally, with one word: Jesus.

Jesus Christ is Immanuel, God with us. He is eternal God, who became a man, so that people just like us could see him, hear him, believe him and follow him.

God’s Christmas gift is inestimable. Jesus not only reveals God to us, he also enables imperfect, sinful people like us to enjoy a loving relationship with our perfect, holy God.

Jesus’ very name means “savior.” He lived the perfect life we could never live. He then died on a cross for the sole purpose of offering himself as a substitute for us. He saves us from our sin.

God puts this tag on his gift to us: “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:21 – NLT).

When we believe in and follow Jesus, we are saved from sin’s consequence, eternal hell, and given eternal life in heaven.

Now that’s cause to celebrate.
