Top prep teams playing in CdA

Basketball: Some of the top boys and girls teams in Washington and Idaho will meet beginning today in the Coeur d’Alene Inn-vitational tournament at North Idaho College.

The way the three-day tourney is set up, Davis of Yakima, ranked No. 1 in the Seattle and Tacoma newspapers’ 4A rankings, could end up playing Post Falls, which was ranked No. 1 in Idaho’s preseason 4A media rankings, in the championship game.

In the girls tourney, it could be a rematch of last year’s final that featured Coeur d’Alene rallying to beat Federal Way.

Wizards fans boo Humphries

NBA: Nets forward Kris Humphries, whose short-lived marriage to Kim Kardashian was chronicled on reality TV, heard the loudest jeers during the introductions of the starting lineups for New Jersey’s season-opening game at the Washington Wizards on Monday night in Washington.

Once the game began, Humphries also heard it from the crowd whenever he touched the ball. He had 21 points and 16 rebounds in New Jersey’s 90-84 victory.

The booing reached a crescendo when he was about to attempt a free throw in the first quarter, then turned to cheers when his shot clanged off the rim.

Humphries and Kardashian split up 72 days after their wedding, which was shown on television.
