Blast leaves boy with critical injuries

Police are responding to the scene of an explosion at a Moses Lake home that occurred about 3 p.m. today. Details surrounding the incident are slim at this time, but a 16-year-old boy was critically injured in the blast, police said. He was taken to a local hospital and will be airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. At least one other person was in the home, 1206 Fairway Drive, and was injured in the explosion. That person was treated at the scene by paramedics. The Moses Lake Police Department is investigating with the assistance of the Richland Police Department Bomb Squad. Police have not said what might have caused the explosion.
