Greed is everywhere

Anyone proposing a budget cut these days is apt to shortly find his/her desk deluged with protesting letters, telegrams, emails, voicemails, messages – all chanting the same thing: why me, why us, why the elderly, sick, disabled, children, families, poor, and homeless?

Has not the time about come for us all to realize that before we travel down the same road as Ireland, Greece, Italy and Spain, substantial cuts will have to be made everywhere. The elderly, sick, disabled, children, families, poor and homeless will all have to bear their share the same as everybody else!

Since civilization began, we have witnessed a steady, persistent monetary inflation brought about by one thing: human greed and stupidity. Today it is virtually impossible to do anything of substance without incurring a mountain of debt. If you doubt me, just try starting a business, getting married, buying a home or having a child.

Greed, stupidity, patronage – human society everywhere, worldwide is riddled with them. You’ll find them right in your church, if you are a member of one. While you’re at it, take a good close look, also, into your own family. It could all originate right there.
