Amtrak train hits, kills woman in Ritzville

Associated Press
A 38-year-old Ritzville woman was struck by an Amtrak train and killed Wednesday night. Angela Ann Leon was walking across the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe main line around 10:25 p.m. She was about 100 feet east of the Adams Street crossing when she was hit by the eastbound train, which was traveling 50 mph, the Ritzville Police Department said. The train blew its whistle as it crossed Adams, but Leon did not acknowledge the whistle, police said. The Washington State Patrol and BNSF assisted Ritzville police at the scene of the accident.
