Angry man beaned by Spokane police

FRIDAY, DEC. 30, 2011, 9:08 A.M.

A domestic violence suspect was stopped by Spokane police Thursday night after one officer fired a shotgun loaded with bags of beans.

Police were called about 6 p.m. to apartments in the 2300 block of East Euclid Avenue and found a man holding two large kitchen knives in his hands and trying to break into one of the apartments.

A fight had started earlier involving the man’s wife.

He was identified as Scott E. Leiper, 53.

Leiper was booked for domestic violence assault.
