Congress there to serve

It’s the servant who merits the title “greatest” in the Christian value system. Matthew 23:11 declares, “The greatest among you will be your servant.”

In the present political climate, what we have is anything but servant-leaders. What we have are power-hungry, self-serving antagonists whose posturing in the name of ideological purity puts those whom these so-called leaders have been elected to serve at risk of losing their fragile grip on the basic standard of living.

Irresponsible pretenders occupy seats in Congress on both sides of the aisle. An intransigent child gets sent to his room if he is unwilling to straighten up. Congress is comprised of a group of intransigent elitists who need to be sent to their rooms and not allowed to come out until they choose to serve the common good rather than their own self-interest.

Congress has lost its moral compass. It is comprised of so-called leaders who treat the electorate like their servants. They’ve gotten it backwards! Congress, show us your greatness! Show yourselves more committed to the common good than to your re-election. Be the servant-leaders you were elected to be. Now, get to work!
