Taxpayers bear unfair burden

Mike Rapp (Letters, Jan. 25) is right. Some got the gold, and some got the shaft. As a regular Joe, nongovernmental person, I would say he got the gold and the taxpayers got the shaft.

Our country is bankrupt, due to all of the golden retirement pensions, benefits and wages we are paying our past and present government employees. Rapp should be very happy his union negotiated these benefits; they did a great job. I wish him the very best in his retirement. I will be thinking of him and his golden retirement every time I see our taxes and fees going up. I will make sure that our employees realize the reason they might miss a raise is because of the huge increase in fees and taxes to cover Rapp’s retirement.
