Idaho’s first residential Hospice House should be ready for occupancy in July, Hospice of North Idaho Executive Director Paul Weil said Thursday.
When ready, the 14,000-square-foot facility at 2212 W. Prairie Ave. in Coeur d’Alene will have 12 patient rooms, including two suites with two bedrooms that will allow family members to stay with patients, he said.
The extra bedrooms could be converted to separate patient rooms if necessary, he said.
Weil said he expects only six to eight of the rooms will be needed the first year, all of them by the end of the second year.
Each room is configured to have a corner window to admit maximum light and provide a view of exterior plantings, he said.
A garden will also be part of a meditation area for patients and family members, Weil said.
He said the facility will also have a great room for family dining, a game room, dispersed small dining areas, a spa room with a patient bath, and two kitchens, one commercial and one for family members.
The six-acre site allows for the addition of 12 rooms when needed, Weil said.
The house, land and equipment will cost $4 million, he said.
The contractor is Contractors Northwest Inc. of Coeur d’Alene. The architects are Roy Marshall and Rann Haight, also of Coeur d’Alene.
