West Valley girls top Pullman to take second place in GNL

Hannah Love finished with 19 points, scoring 10 in the first quarter, as the West Valley Eagles (16-4, 9-3) opened a 16-6 lead at the end of the opening period and held on to beat visiting Pullman (10-9, 8-4) 50-42 in their Great Northern League finale Thursday.

Shaniqua Nilles added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles, who moved into sole possession of second place in the GNL in their final game, earning them a first-round bye in the District 7 2A tournament.

Clarkston 53, East Valley 38: Jamie Weisner tallied 15 of her 17 points in the first half and the host Bantams (15-5, 10-2) opened up a 33-12 halftime lead over the Knights (11-9, 8-4), earning the GNL title with the win.

Cheney 47, Deer Park 37: Destinee Lake tallied 11 points and the visiting Blackhawks (10-9, 6-6) knocked off the Stags (5-15, 1-11) to close the season. Tessa Heins scored 22 points with 11 rebounds for DP, which plays Medical Lake in Cheney at 4:15 p.m. Saturday to determine the No. 6 and final seed into the district tournament.

Idaho 4A Region I

Lakeland 48, Moscow 45: Cieana Close tallied 17 points and five rebounds and hit 8 of 10 from the free-throw line as the Hawks (12-11) took a late lead and held off the host Bears (5-15). Abi Quinnett led the Bears with 15 points. They will play Sandpoint at 6 p.m. Saturday in Moscow.

Intermountain

Priest River 46, Bonners Ferry 29: Holly Hirst finished with 16 points on four 3-pointers and the visiting Spartans (10-9, 5-2) outscored the Badgers (4-15, 3-5) 17-4 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win. Liz Halcro added 12 points for PR.

Bi-County 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 73, St. Michael’s 18: Nikki Osborne tallied a game-high 26 points, Kodi Noggles added 16 points and visiting ACH (17-2, 7-0) dominated from the opening tip, outscoring St. Michael’s (1-15, 0-7) 52-12 in the first half. Brittani and Rosi Urann led St. Michael’s with eight points apiece.
