Finally, Rogers recognized

I read your article about Rogers High School and the changes that have taken place regarding discipline and expectations. You quoted several times in the article about the lower economical group that attends Rogers and that appears to be a factor in the lack of recognition. That has been the case for many years as the school district has chosen to recognize Rogers last regarding school upgrades and other factors of support.

As an alumna, I can tell you that people from Rogers High School are a very determined and proud group. Through struggle came outstanding achievements.

When you look at the statistics presented in your article regarding disciplinary issues, people seeking further education etc., it seems like the school board administration could have taken more of an interest earlier and provided some support. I’m sure if other schools had been standing out in this fashion, they would have received attention earlier.

Thank goodness for the present leadership, who have implemented new expectations and are determined to stand behind those expectations. Please continue on with your commitment to the students who deserve the very best no matter what school or economic level exists.
