East Valley boys knock out Cheney in district opener

Jake Reynolds poured in 24 points, Ronnie Jarvis chipped in 14 and visiting East Valley (12-9) built a 14-point halftime lead and held on to beat No. 4 seed Cheney (13-8) 59-47 in the opening round of the District 7 2A tournament Tuesday.

Shakur Smith led the Blackhawks with 12 points and 15 rebounds, but they could not overcome the early deficit as they were eliminated from the postseason.

The Knights will play at Clarkston at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Pullman 57, Medical Lake 28: Corey Landerveld led three Greyhound players in double figures with 12 points and Kalvin Johanson added 11 points and 10 rebounds as they held the visiting Cardinals (8-13) to just eight points in the first half. The Greyhounds (16-4) will play West Valley at 6 p.m. Thursday.


Post Falls 61, Lewiston 40: Connor Hill added 10 rebounds to go with his game-high 24 points and Marcus Colbert added eight points and nine rebounds as the host Trojans (16-2, 4-1) clinched the IEL 5A title with their win over the Bengals (8-9, 2-4). After leading by nine at the end of the third quarter, the Trojans went on a 21-9 run in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Bi-County 2B

Northwest Christian 85, Kettle Falls 36: Kwinn Hanson poured in 26 points, Cole Ramey scored 15 points to go with eight assists and the host Crusaders (18-2, 15-1) earned a share of the Bi-County 2B league title with their win over the Bulldogs (1-19, 0-16) in Colbert.

St. George’s 58, Springdale 56: Mark Kenney hit a 3-pointer as time expired to lift the Dragons (10-10, 9-7) to a win over the host Chargers (7-12, 5-11). Kenney scored 13 and Dexter Sienko added 21 for the Dragons, who finished third in the league standings.

Liberty 54, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 48: Terry Viele and Ross Collins combined for 23 points and 21 rebounds and the host Lancers (6-14, 5-11) held off a late run by the Broncos (10-10, 7-9) to win their final game of the regular season. Dylan Salsbury and Eric Hammond each had 13 points for the Lancers.

Reardan 74, Davenport 61: Jake Hight scored 10 of his 27 points in the second quarter to help give the Indians (10-10, 9-7) a 13-point halftime lead over the visiting Gorillas (10-10, 7-9). Chace Bell added 17 points for Reardan.

Central Wash 2B

Lake Roosevelt 75, Oroville 23: Ty Egbert tallied 22 points and 17 rebounds and the host Raiders (16-3, 11-0) erased any doubt of the outcome early, taking a 29-2 lead after the first quarter against the Hornets (10-5, 8-3).


St. Maries 43, Coeur d’Alene JV 29: Warren Joiner led all scorers with 11 points and after struggling to score in the first three quarters against the Vikings, the host Lumberjacks (14-4) scored 19 points in the fourth, including 10 points at the free-throw line, to pull away for the win.
