Ferris boys edge LC in Rubber Chicken game

The Ferris boys basketball team went to the free-throw line to secure the Greater Spokane League championship Tuesday.

The Saxons made 19 of 27 foul shots to Lewis and Clark’s 4 of 7 as Ferris held off the Tigers 59-53 in the Rubber Chicken game at the Arena.

Riley Stockton led the second-ranked Saxons (18-1, 17-0) with 17 points and Taylor Kamitomo had 12.

Jeff Livingston led LC (5-14, 5-12) with 26 points, 11 coming in the fourth.

Gonzaga Prep 71, North Central 53: The outcome was never in doubt, but the Indians (8-10, 8-9) tightened things up in the second half.

NC didn’t have an answer for Parker Kelly, who had a season-high 29 points for G-Prep (16-3, 15-2). He made 5 of 7 3-pointers in the first half as the Bullpups opened a 44-29 lead.

Gunnar Swagger led the Indians with 19 points and seven rebounds.

Mead 72, Central Valley 70 (OT): The Wright brothers can play basketball, too.

Cody and Chase Wright combined for 20 of their 22 points in the final 12 minutes as the Panthers (7-12, 6-11) edged the Bears (9-10, 8-9) at CV. Garrett Swanson had 15 for Mead. Danny Nimri led CV with 14.

Mt. Spokane 73, Shadle Park 67: In a key 3A game, the Wildcats (5-14, 3-14) used a 25-15 start in the first quarter to hold off visiting Highlanders (4-15, 3-14).

Kellen Clute led Mt. Spokane with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Antwan Johnson scored 19 for Shadle.

University 80, Rogers 60: The visiting Pirates (6-13, 6-11) led 31-28 at halftime before the Titans (15-4, 14-3) charged back.

The Titans outscored Rogers 52-29 in the second half. Brett Bailey led U-Hi with 21 points. Therone Tillett led Rogers with 18.
