Author Trent Reedy - Book reading and signing. Reedy grew up in Iowa, where he taught high school English. He served with the Iowa Army National Guard in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan in 2004-2005. His experiences there inspired his first novel, “Words In The Dust,” about an Afghan girl, Zulaikha. She hopes the surgery offered by an American soldier will correct her cleft lip and solve all of her problems. Like everything else in Afghanistan, it’s not that simple. 1-2 p.m. Tinman Too, 809 W.
