Gunderson leads Lakeside past Newport at district

Ryan Gunderson notched his 16th double-double of the year with 19 points and 12 rebounds and Jake Erickson added 15 points as Lakeside (14-7) knocked off Newport (12-10) 62-46 in the District 7 1A tournament Wednesday at Mead.

The Eagles went on a 22-11 run in the third quarter to open an 18-point lead at the start of the fourth. They will play Colville in the district title game at 8 p.m. Friday.

Newport will play Chewelah at 5 p.m.

Colville 54, Chewelah 43: Matt Hubbard and Miguel Anaya each contributed 16 points and Anaya hit 5 of 6 free throws in the second half to help lift the Indians (12-9) over the Cougars (6-16) at Mead.

After a 12-5 run gave them a seven-point halftime lead, the Indians scored 20 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Nonleague

Lakeland 55, Bonners Ferry 43: Hunter Arno scored 16 points to lead the visiting Hawks (4-15) past the Badgers (2-12).

District 7 1B

Wellpinit 81, Odessa-Harrington 46: Kennedy Seyler notched a triple-double, scoring 21 points to go with 10 rebounds and 10 assists, and A.J. Kieffer added 12 points and 10 blocks as the host Redskins (19-4) cruised to a win over the Titans (7-15). The Redskins were at their best in the first and fourth quarters, outscoring O-H a combined 48-19.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 74, Selkirk 30: Derek Isaak hit five 3-pointers in the first half and scored a game-high 28 points to go with six rebounds and five assists and the host Warriors (21-0) opened up a 46-13 lead at the half against the Rangers (7-15). Thunder Wellhausen added 10 points and 10 boards and Cody Jess chipped in 14 points for ACH, which will play Cusick at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Deer Park. Selkirk will play Wilbur-Creston at 6 p.m.

Cusick 67, Wilbur-Creston 46: Tyler Edwards had 13 rebounds and six steals to go with his game-high 32 points and Louie Bluff added 17 points and 15 rebounds as the host Panthers (16-7) defeated the Wildcats (11-9). Josh Tonasket scored 10 points to pace W-C.
