Liberty Lake blotter 2/10/2011

It seems to be either feast or famine week to week for the Liberty Lake Police Department, which had a relatively calm week from Feb. 1 to Monday after the week before that kept officers hopping.

There were no garage burglaries or vehicle prowls reported during the week.

Police started off with an arrest for domestic violence assault at 3:10 p.m. in the 1300 block of North Mitchell Road on Feb. 1. A second arrest on the same charge came at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 4 in the 1400 block of North Caufield Court.

The only other arrest for the week came after a traffic stop at 4:15 a.m. on Friday at Appleway and Liberty Lake Road. A car was stopped for an equipment violation and the officer smelled the odor of marijuana, said Police Chief Brian Asmus. Two smoking devices and marijuana were found in the car. The 26-year-old Loon Lake man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

During the week officers gave out eight citations for failure to show proof of liability insurance, five for defective muffler and seven for speeding. Additional citations were given for license and plates required and second degree negligent driving.
