Washington State Cougars outlook

RECORD: 16-7 overall, 6-5 Pac-10

COMING UP: Tonight vs. Stanford, 7; Saturday vs. California, 3 p.m.

OUTLOOK: Last Thursday’s poor effort at Oregon probably sucked up the Cougars’ NCAA at-large berth margin of error, making this week’s games crucial. Stanford (5-6, 12-10) has been tough at home, but the road Cardinal have only won once – at last-place Arizona State. Juniors Jeremy Green and Josh Owens came alive last weekend, with 46 and 29 points, respectively. There is some revenge at stake Saturday against the Bears (tied with WSU in Pac-10 play, 13-10), after Cal’s 88-81 overtime win in Berkeley, Calif., last month. Freshman wing Allen Crabbe exploded for a career-best 30 points in that one.
