Lake City’s Smyly scores 32 in win over Sandpoint

Mark Smyly hit 7 of 11 3-pointers and scored 32 points Thursday night to power the Lake City Timberwolves to a 71-46 nonleague win over the visiting Sandpoint Bulldogs (9-10).

Smyly scored 12 points in the first quarter, when LC (14-5) hit five 3-pointers and 8 of 11 from the floor.

Chris Wheelock added seven assists and Brady Smith eight rebounds for the Timberwolves.

Lewiston 60, Moscow 39: Matt Kalbfleisch hit three 3-pointers and scored 14 points to lead the Bengals (10-9) past the visiting Bears (6-12).

Riley Beck added 10 points for Lewiston, which finished 14 of 18 from the line. Lane Brooks led the Bears with 11 points.

Inland Empire 5A

Coeur d’Alene 70, Post Falls 65: Deon Watson scored 21 points to lift the visiting Vikings (13-7, 3-3) past the Trojans (16-3, 4-2) to complete the league season.

Jake Matheson added 18 points and Chad Chalich 15 for the Vikings.

Marcus Colbert led the way for PF with 22 points. Connor Hill hit three 3-pointers and scored 21 points for the Trojans.

The 5A Region I tournament begins next Friday with league champion Post Falls hosting No. 4 Lewiston at 7:30 p.m. and No. 3 CdA traveling to No. 2 Lake City at 5:45. Lake City and CdA tied for second in league play, but LC earned the No. 2 seed because of a season sweep.

District 7 2A

West Valley 45, Pullman 36: Brady Bagby scored 16 points to lead the host Eagles (18-3) past the Greyhounds (16-5). Corey Langerveld scored 16 to lead Pullman.

West Valley will play Clarkston at 8 p.m. today at Central Valley for the No. 1 seed to subregionals. Pullman will meet East Valley at 7:30 tonight at West Valley in a loser-out game.

Clarkston 63, East Valley 45: Chanse Brownell hit six 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lift the Bantams (18-3) past the visiting Knights (12-10). Trey Sobotta added 12 points for Clarkston, which finished with 11 3-pointers and shot 10 of 12 from the line. East Valley’s Ronnie Jarvis hit three 3-pointers and scored 12 points.

District 7 2B

Springdale 78, Republic 61: Uconn Peone scored 30 points and Kendall Peone added 16 as the host Chargers (8-12) eliminated the Tigers (7-12). Springdale will play Colfax at 5 p.m. Saturday at Mead High as double-elimination play begins.

Liberty 42, Kettle Falls 24: The host Lancers (7-14) took advantage of 28 turnovers and used a 43-32 rebounding advantage to eliminate the Bulldogs (1-20). Liberty will play Northwest Christian at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Spokane.

Central Wash. 2B

Lake Roosevelt 64, Bridgeport 13: Keith Rosenbaum hit three 3-pointers and scored 21 points as the visiting Raiders (17-3, 12-0) completed league play with a win over the Mustangs. Brandon Kohler added three 3-pointers, 16 points and six assists for the Raiders. LR’s Ty Egbert had 16 points and 10 rebounds. Lake Roosevelt will open district play against Warden at 8:30 p.m. Monday at Wenatchee.

District 9 1B

Garfield-Palouse 54, Pomeroy 49: Blake Slocum scored 17 points and Race Martin added 15 points and nine rebounds as the Vikings (10-10) defeated the Pirates (4-15).

Gar-Pal’s J.B. Lange shot 8 of 10 from the free-throw line and added five steals and four assists.

Gar-Pal will play at Colton at 6 p.m. Saturday. Pomeroy will play a loser-out game on Tuesday.

St. John-Endicott 62, Touchet 46: Mason Van Lith and Cole McCanna combined for 30 points as the host Eagles (10-10) defeated the Indians (8-12).

St. John-Endicott will play at Rosalia at 6 p.m. Saturday. Touchet will play a loser-out game on Tuesday.
