Spokesman-Review Spokesman-Review
Lewis and Clark girls basketball coach Jim Redmon was more than mildly concerned going into the District 8 4A tournament. His team hit a few potholes the last two weeks of the regular season. The Tigers patched up the tires in fine fashion Tuesday, handling Mead 82-53 at LC. LC (15-6) advances to face top-seeded and Greater Spokane League champ Gonzaga Prep (18-3) in the district final Friday at University. Tipoff is at 7. Mead (13-8) meets Ferris (7-14) in a loser-out game, also at U-Hi, at 3:45. Three LC players combined for 14 assists, led by eight from Taylor Howlett. Devyn Galland scored a game-high 23 points and had four assists and Hayley Hendricksen had 21 points and 11 rebounds for Ferris. Abang Taka added 10 points and five blocks. Taylor Ingebritsen had 15 points for Mead. Gonzaga Prep 71, Ferris 54: The Bullpups were steady. G-Prep outscored the visiting Saxons in every quarter. Tia Presley led the Bullpups with 22 points, 17 in the first half, and 14 rebounds. Lindsay Stockton added 20 points, 12 in the first half. Brittney Johnson led Ferris with 12 points.
