Quartet features soprano in wedding cantata

Soprano Dawn Wolski will join the Spokane String Quartet for a wedding cantata by J.S. Bach on Sunday at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox.

Keith Thomas on oboe, Kim Plewniak on double bass and Greg Presley on harpsichord also will accompany the quartet for Bach’s cantata number BWV 202, “Begone, Melancholy Shadows.”

Wolksi also will be featured in Karl Weigl’s “Five Songs for Soprano and String Quartet.” Other selections on the program include Mozart’s String Quartet in C Major (“Dissonance Quartet”) and John Corigliano’s “Snapshot: Circa 1909.”

Wolski, the wife of the quartet’s first violinist, Mateusz Wolski, is well-known to area audiences and recently returned from a singing tour in China.
