I-90 shut down because of snow-caused collisions
The Washington Department of Transportation and State Patrol have once again closed Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass in both directions due to snow and collisions. An earlier closure had been lifted for eastbound traffic for a short time.
The closures started some time around 1 p.m. and came after traffic in the pass was slowed this morning at the start of a snowstorm in the Cascades.
The two-way closure had stretched from Easton at milepost 71 to Denny Creek at milepost 47.
Elsewhere, snow was reported on I-90 passes in Idaho, and the Idaho State Police has cancelled a chain-up request for semitrucks in Boundary County where snow had reduced visibility and made highways treacherous.
Visibility in Latah County was down to 100 yards this afternoon, and the state police were asking people to stay off the roads for now unless absolutely necessary.
