Nation of sheep

As I watched the incredibly brave Egyptians gathering to right the wrongs of their government, I can’t help but wonder what is wrong with us? We see daily examples of corruption at the local, state and federal level and what do we do? We pay attention to “American Idol” or “Survivor” or how many days Lindsay Lohan will get in jail.

We don’t inform ourselves about our government; we don’t vote. We say we’re not interested in politics.

Nearly every person in this country has been adversely affected by the arrogance and greed of Wall Street bankers. They are predators. They all but brought down the global financial system. Hundreds of thousands of jobs were lost, homes have been foreclosed upon by banks that in some cases didn’t even have the legal right to foreclose. And these people collect their bonuses, evidently with a clear conscience.

Sen. Orrin Hatch has introduced legislation about the wrong wolves. Where is the Justice Department? How is it that small infractions of the SEC rules gets you eight months in jail, but stealing billions doesn’t draw any federal wrath? We are a bunch of lazy sheep.
