Missing Hayden man, 85, found hypothermic

Police have found an elderly man who went missing early this morning near his home in Hayden. A homeowner found Arnold White sitting in his car. The man was hypothermic and taken to Kootenai Medical Center for treatment. White disappeared about 4 a.m. in the area of 12308 N. Forest Drive, in the Emerald Estates area, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department reported. He left his home wearing a brown checkered shirt, navy blue pants and slippers, authorities said. The temperature at the time was below 5 degrees. White was found about two miles from his home in the area of Strahorn Road and Skyview Lane, just north of Hayden. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department, Kootenai County Search and Rescue, Northern Lakes Fire Department and Spokane County sheriff’s Air One helicopter took part in the morning search.
