Time to stray from party lines

It’s been interesting watching the new crop of Republicans attack all of the “wasteful government spending.” Of special interest is the efforts by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to virtually eliminate the collective bargaining rights from state workers. Of course he’s ONLY targeting those unions that opposed him during the last election. In fact, he’s exempting both the police and firefighters unions. They supported him during that same election.

In these lean times there’s every reason for unions, ALL of them, to make concessions. In like kind, both political parties need to look at spending and make tough choices to help us make our recovery stronger and long-lasting. Neither side should be blindly following party lines and protecting their “sacred cows.” Unfortunately, it seems it’s just more politics as usual.
